Last week's lender-ordered auction of a 168-acre greenhouse campus in Lisbon drew widespread interest.

The facility at 347 Lisbon St. is under contract, but Mike Carey, co-CEO of Tranzon Auction Properties, said he could not disclose further details about Friday's auction. The Lewiston Sun Journal reported that the winning bid was $1.1million.

"Overall interest was good;' Carey told Mainebiz."We had inquiries from a variety of greenhouse users from throughout the U.S. and overseas, the U.K., Lebanon and Israel. It's a great facility and we're optimistic it will continue to provide economic activity in Lisbon:'

The campus includes 117,000 square feet of greenhouse growing space and 56,000 square feet of attached headhouse buildings housing light industrial space.

It was developed by Springworks Farm, an aquaponics operation that became one of the largest greenhouse lettuce producers in the Northeast, most recently growing five million heads of lettuce, with integrated production of tilapia, a freshwater fish.
