LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Four surplus Fayette County Public Schools properties are set for auction.
In an Oct. 5 news release, Tranzon Asset Advisors and Schrader Commercial Properties said FCPS commissioned them to auction multiple former Lexington school and office locations. FCPS declared the properties surplus, and the four locations are scheduled to be auctioned in November and December.
FOX 56 News previously reported that the Fayette County Board of Education was considering declaring some of the district’s properties as surplus to help balance its budget.
Former Johnson Elementary School, located at 123 E. Sixth St., and Linlee Elementary School, located at 2420 Spurr Road, will be included in the first auction event on Nov. 12. The release said sealed bids for this auction are due on or before Nov. 10. Bidders must also submit a $100,000 deposit and provide proof of their financial ability to complete the purchase.
Public inspections of the properties are scheduled for Oct. 27 and Nov. 3.
The second auction event includes the former central office complex at 701 E. Main St. and a residential property at 700 Bullock Place. According to the release, sealed bids for the former central office complex are due Dec. 8, with best-and-final bidding scheduled for Dec. 10. The Bullock Place property will be sold through an online auction culminating Dec. 15.
Inspection dates can be scheduled through Tranzon or Schrader Commercial.
According to the news release, the Fayette County Board of Education took the required legal steps to declare the properties surplus at its June meeting. Tranzon and Schrader said they submitted a joint proposal to sell the properties through an RFP process.
The release said pre-auction offers will be considered, and the properties could be sold before the auction dates.
