Rare Jersey Shore beachfront property among those heading to auction

A series of residential, beachfront and commercial lots in Middletown will be sold at an online auction later this month, giving prospective buyers a chance to acquire propety in one of Monmouth County's most desirable coastal communities.

The Aug. 19 auction, ordered by Middletown Township and managed by Tranzon Auction Properties, includes parcels ranging from beachfront land overlooking Sandy Hook Bay to commercial property along Route 36 and residential sites in the historic Monmouth Hills section of the township.

Bidding opens at 9 a.m. and closes after 1 p.m.

According to Tranzon, the offering includes lots situated between Sandy Hook Bay and the Navesink River, with access to public utilities including water, sewer and electric service.

Among the featured properties are a 1.1-acre beachfront lot with views across Sandy Hook Bay toward Manhattan, a commercial parcel at a signalized intersection on Route 36 and a hillside lot within the historic Water Witch Club community in Monmouth Hills — considered the highest point along the New Jersey coast.

The auction also includes residential building lots, potential subdivision opportunities and additional commercial development sites.

“Who says there are no more beachfront lots on the Jersey Shore?” Bob Dann, auctioneer for Tranzon Auction Properties, said in a statement.

Middletown is located at the northern end of the Jersey Shore and offers access to beaches, boating and waterfront recreation. The township is also known for its proximity to shopping, dining and other coastal attractions.

Prospective bidders can review zoning information, tax maps, property dimensions and auction terms through a property information package prepared by Tranzon. 

The company said interested buyers are encouraged to complete their own due diligence and register before the auction.

The online auction is scheduled for Aug. 19.
