It's been sad seeing the empty parking lot on Bangor Mall Boulevard since BAM moved to Stillwater Avenue in 2024, since it's such a beautiful building.
The property went up for auction through Tranzon Auctions of Portland in February 2026 and was purchased, but the new owners remained a mystery.
There's been a lot of speculation about what type of business would take over the space that features two floors, a glass elevator, and a large parking lot.
Now, the questions have been answered by the First Pentecostal Church in Brewer.
Church leaders have announced on their Facebook page that they're moving the church to Bangor to take over the former Books-a-Million building.
In a video posted on the church's page, 'A Church in Transition,' they show the auction signs being toppled and the congregation checking out the building's beautiful interior.

There's no word on when the church will move from its current location on Parkway South in Brewer to the Bangor Mall Boulevard location.

The Bangor building originally housed Borders Bookstore, which opened in 1996, and occupied the space for 15 years.
Books-a-Million, also known as BAM, took over the building from 2011 to 2024, before moving to the Bangor Parkade on Stillwater Avenue.
