Crosby School, built in 1923 and named after Maine Governor William G. Crosby who served from 1853-1854 is being offered at public auction by Tranzon Auction Properties on December 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the school. The current owner, The National Theatre Workshop of the Handicapped, has chosen the auction method in order to maximize exposure of the property to potential purchasers. The Crosby School, with 36,000 sq ft, is currently configured as a handicap accessible campus. The building includes a 400-seat auditorium with comprehensive light and sound system, commercial kitchen and space to accommodate more than 30 overnight guests. The property is equipped with 2 hi-speed elevators with the current owners having invested $3.5 million in renovations and building upgrades. The City of Belfast has recently rezoned this Building’s location to Residential – 1. Future uses for the space could include restaurants, a community center, office space and apartments. The property is only one block from downtown Belfast – an easy walk or quick car ride. Film buffs may recognize the Crosby from the 1957 movie “Peyton Place”.
