FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASETRANZON AUCTION PROPERTIES SELLS GORHAM LANDMARK IN VALENTINE’S DAY AUCTION GORHAM – Tranzon Auction Properties facilitated the sale of the former Gorham Sports Complex for over $1 million on February 14. Hired by Camden National Bank to conduct the foreclosure sale, Tranzon’s accelerated marketing campaign began in January. The campaign peaked the interest of indoor sports arena operators and professional athletic teams throughout New England. However, perhaps the greatest source of interest came from the Gorham community itself, who formed a non-profit organization and enlisted local support to purchase the complex for a community recreation center. A number of registered bidders participated in the public out-cry auction, with the non-profit group placing the winning bid of $1,005,000. Tom Saturley, President of Tranzon Auction Properties said, “"This was a great sale for the Gorham community and the surrounding towns. The support that interested parents and business have demonstrated confirm that the facility is positioned to be very successful. Although we are seeing trying economic times in our State, the auction today continues to show an underlying demand for quality real estate investments." One of the challenges to the prior operator were the escalating heating costs, which the non-profit organization hopes to minimize by insulating the arena. It hopes to open its doors in early March.
