TAMPA, FL – Tranzon Driggers announced today that Hillsborough County Florida has joined the local governments of Marion County, Florida, and the city of Dunnellon, Florida, in choosing Tranzon Driggers as its venue for disposal of surplus government real estate.

Hillsborough County, home to the city of Tampa, has sold 17 pieces of property, a record number in today’s economic environment. Tranzon Driggers actively markets the properties to adjoining property owners and the public at large, “a process that has worked very well,” says David Ernest, general manager of Tranzon Driggers. “The sealed-bid auction has been extremely successful.”

Hillsborough follows Marion County, which sold $16 million worth of public property through Tranzon Driggers, and the city of Dunnellon which sold its municipal airport for $4.5 million also through Tranzon Driggers. All three used the sealed bid process with marketing through websites, email blasts, and direct mailings.

Hillsborough has collected multiple properties over the years through forfeiture, errors in surveys and other means. Officials quickly determined that a Tranzon Driggers public auction was the best and most impartial way to dispose of them.

The original surplus property list provided by Hillsborough County comprised 237 properties; every six months the County selects 15-20 properties to offer to neighboring property owners for a sealed-bid auction. A minimum bid is set by the county, letters are sent to the property owners, and Bid Packages for each property are posted on the Tranzon Web site, www.tranzon.com. If none of the adjacent property owners are interested in a parcel, the sealed-bid auction is open to the general public.
